like that this wasn’t as sticky as some other sunburn treatments. It helped take the sting out of my son’s sunburn.

Peter – August 23, 2018

love this product. I’ve been looking for an Aloe Vera product that hopefully wouldn’t be as sticky as the typical ones i have used and happy to say that this one does the job well. I was quite sunburned when i first tried it and found that the product absorbs quickly and relieved that uncomfortable sting easily and left my skin nice and soft after applying it. Will definitely recommend this.

snj.nottus – September 5, 2018

Love my Uncle Bud! It felt even better after chilling it in the frig!

Mary K. – September 14, 2018

This product arrived just in time for a weekend camping trip where it was put to immediate use. It passed my wife’s stringent ingredients test (no small feat) and 3/4 of the people we needed to use it on (including me) said that it gave immediate cooling and relief. The other one (grumpy tween) said it was “fine.” The tube was easy to use and convenient to take camping. Thanks!

Ari Y. – September 24, 2018

Sink Fam – October 25, 2018

The product feels so nice on painful skin. I was afraid there would be an unpleasant scent, but that was not the case at all. I would buy again.

Maddie – March 30, 2019

CBD Oil For Sunburn

The sweltering days of summer are just a few months away. You have long days, cold drinks, and plenty of fun to look forward to…except when it comes to skincare.

Sunburns are more than just painful. Due to the weakening of the ozone layer, ongoing sun exposure drastically increases your risk for lifelong diseases like skin cancer. It’s estimated one out of five Americans will develop skin cancer by the time they’re seventy years old. If you’re considering using CBD for skincare, you’re in luck!

Is CBD good for sunburn? Here’s what you need to know about your next favorite product.

Fast Skincare Facts

What does today’s average skincare routine look like? For most people, skincare involves keeping the skin soft, even, and protected from damage.

According to recent skincare studies, the American skincare market rakes in nearly $18 billion every year. Facial cleansers are the most popular choice among all demographics for their ability to get rid of dirt, loosen up oil plugs, and soften the skin. The broad designation of skincare includes (but isn’t limited to):

  • Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Foundation
  • Make-up
  • Chapstick
  • Toner
  • Masks
  • Moisturizer

How many products do you use in your skincare routine? Are you keeping up with your regimen every morning and night? We’ll talk more about preventing sunburns and why CBD topicals or edibles are useful for pain relief.

How to Prevent a Sunburn

The best way to cure a sunburn? Prevent it from happening in the first place.

Preventing a sunburn during the summer is easy. Consider taking a little time to pad out your closet and bathroom for supplies such as:

Always Wear a Hat

A hat is more than just useful to shade your eyes. It also keeps some of the sun off your face and reduces your sunburn risk.

Wide-brim hats are the best choice, able to shade your neck and some of your shoulders.

Breathable, Long-Sleeved Tops

Long sleeves during the summer don’t sound appealing, but they’ll protect your skin and keep your sunburn risk very low.

Make sure your clothes are breathable, thin cotton to keep you cool.

Re-apply Effective Sunscreen

Slather on a good sunscreen and you’ll be well-protected…right? Not entirely.

Since your skin naturally sweats off the product, you need to make sure you reapply your sunscreen every two hours.

Using CBD Cream or CBD Oil for Sunburn

Why does your skin become so inflamed and painful beneath the sun? There are a few reasons for this, from the environment to your skin’s natural barrier.

As stated above, the weakening ozone layer has increased the amount of UVB and UVA rays reaching the earth. This phenomenon is even more exaggerated if you live closer to the equator. While UV rays are healthy in small amounts and provide you with essential vitamin D, too much causes a harmful effect in the short-term and long term.

CBD cream and CBD oil are two methods of healing a sunburn after the fact. Their potency comes from their natural anti-inflammatory properties, acting similarly to aloe vera or lavender to soothe the skin. It’s recommended you use your CBD cream or CBD oil one to three times a day depending on the severity of your burn.

CBD Tinctures for Sunburn

Is your skin a little too greasy for products like cream or oil? It’s frustrating when you try to soothe a sunburn, only to see whiteheads or blackheads pop up in its place.

CBD creams for burns are effective but pretty slimy for acne-prone skin. CBD tinctures are designed to be consumed either on the tongue, in a drink, or in a gummy. This form of CBD will provide you with a little pain relief as you wait for your sunburn to heal.

The Difference Between Sunburn and Heat Rash

Do you find your skin sometimes covered in itchy, red bumps after sun exposure? You might be experiencing a heat rash instead of a sunburn.

It’s possible to experience both, of course! The key difference is how your body is responding to heat. Put simply, sunburns are:

  • Caused by exposure to UV rays
  • Generally smooth, shiny, and red
  • Eventually peel and flake

To contrast, heat rashes are:

  • Caused by clogged sweat glands due to exposure to heat and humidity
  • Preventable by wearing breathable, light clothing
  • Sometimes appear like small acne

CBD for Sunburns Final Thoughts

CBD for sunburns provides you with a little pain relief as your skin reddens and flakes. While they won’t completely cure your sunburn, they’re a useful ingredient to help you heal.

CBD cream and CBD oil are the most common forms used for sunburn. These ingredients should be applied one to three times per day depending on the severity of your burn. If you are susceptible to acne or heat rashes, you can also use a CBD tincture for pain relief. These tinctures can be dripped onto the tongue or put into a gummy form.
